What We Do

Servo Repair

Servos have distinctive components that require specialized care, and Servo Repair International, Inc. is a specialized servo repair shop with the means to properly service all of the motor's parts--something that most average electric shops do not have. Avoid having to pull your servo out of your machine and repeat the repair process by sending your motor to our staff of fully trained professionals.

Servo Replacement

Extensive motor damage or unacceptable lead times may make replacement options a more intelligent and economical choice. Servo Repair International provides various replacement options for many OEMs. The older DC servo motors may be crossed over to newer products. We can also provide our own direct interchangeable DC servo motors as replacements. Many times just a simple feedback device crossover may be needed to increase turnaround time and better performance.

Remagnetizing

We can restore the lost torque of your existing servo motor by utilizing our in-house magnetizers and magnetizing fixtures. We build our own customized magnetizer stations and charging cores to cover the various diameters and pole configurations seen in today’s servo motors. With recharged rotors or field shells, motors are once again capable of providing the torque necessary for required machine performance.

DC Servo Crossover

Servo Repair International is able to crossover your existing DC servo motor from one manufacturer to another. SRI can replace your old, obsolete, DC servo motor by crossing over to new or refurbished motors with a one year warranty. If your manufacturer or OEM is on the DC Crossover List, SRI can crossover crossover your motors.

Why Do I Need a Servo Shop?

Can I repair my own servo motor? How about the motor shop down the street?

Before you try to repair your own servo motor or send it to your average electric motor shop you should know that servos have distinctive components that require specialized care.

DC servo motors use tachometers for feedback. Tachometers are like a small DC generator that the servo drive uses to monitor the servo motor's speed. You can test the tachometer's output with a voltmeter but the DC signal is as important as the voltage. An oscilloscope is needed to see the quality of the signal and to be sure it is not too noisy. A noisy signal can confuse the drive and cause the servo motor to run improperly.

AC servo motors can have a variety of feedback devices. Some will have a resolver, tach hall device, or an encoder. Some units can have a combination of the three. If your shop can't test these devices, read the various signals they output, or properly align them to the servo motor then they can't be sure the unit will function properly in your machine. Taking a chance that the feedback devices are okay without proper testing will usually lead to having to pull the servo out of your machine and starting over again. Avoid this scenario by sending your servo motor to a specialized servo repair shop who has the means to properly service all of their parts.

AC and DC servo motors both have permanent magnets inside. These magnets can weaken when the unit is disassembled. If your shop does not have the means to recharge these magnets, then even attempting to repair the servo motor may cause it to function improperly. Recharging the magnets found in servo motors requires a magnetizer; a piece of equipment that many shops that claim to repair servo motors either do not have or do not have the expertise to use for recharging servo motor magnets.

Benefits of Working With Us

At Servo Repair International we won’t try to diagnose your servo motor or servo related equipment’s issues over the phone. A proper evaluation is best performed by our staff in our facility. Servo Repair International won’t charge a flat rate for your unit’s repair, either. We don’t think your small repair job should help to pay for another customer’s big repair job.

Free Evaluations

To help mitigate the costs in both time and money that sending your equipment to our facility might entail, Servo Repair International offers free evaluations and quotes. There is no fixed fee added to your quotation and if you decide against having your unit repaired by us your only obligation is the cost of return shipping.

When the pressure is on Servo Repair International offers rush evaluations and rush service to provide you with answers almost immediately (24 to 48 hours!) and turn around your repair as soon as possible.

No Expediting Fees

When you’re not sure what’s causing the problem with your equipment or when you need some guidance once you’ve received your repaired equipment back from Servo Repair International, you can count on us for technical support from one of our engineers or technicians. Servo Repair International understands that solving your issue is not always as simple as just repairing your equipment and so technical support on units we have repaired is offered free of charge.

One Year Warranty

If our technical support is not able to solve your issue, we warranty all the parts we install and the labor we provide. If we can remedy the failure we will do so free of charge. If we cannot, we offer a full refund up to the amount you originally paid for our work. The warranty extends for one year from the date of shipment, so you can have the security of knowing your equipment is covered.
