Servo Repair International, Inc. repairs and replaces many of the brands of servo motors, including FANUC.

FANUC originated as a part of Fujitsu in the 1950s. The name FANUC is an acronym for Factory Automation Numerical Control. In 1972, FANUC manufactured their first computer numerical control (CNC) and have continued to manufacture and innovate in the fields of automation and robotics to this day.

Servo Repair International, Inc. is capable of repairing most FANUC AC servo motors, but the nomenclature of FANUC AC servo motors is complex and it is difficult to separate the different motors into groups that can be described and summarized. Instead, we present a brief explanation of the relationship between FANUC model numbers and FANUC type numbers. If you have any questions about your FANUC AC servo motor, please contact us to discuss your particular situation.

FANUC Motors

If your motor is not represented below, please call us as our capabilities are always expanding!

If your motor is not a FANUC, refer to our AC Servo Motor list to view a list of manufacturers we can service.

Type Number Example:
A06B-0123-B075

For all FANUC AC servo motors, the type number will begin with ‘A06B’. The second set of characters refers to the electrical specifications and dimensions of the motor and the information coded here is most closely tied to information in the model number. However, simply increasing the ‘0123’ to, say, ‘0126’ does not necessarily have a similar effect on which model is equivalent. In this case such a change in the type number would equate to a model with a different series as well as speed.

The last set of characters signify shaft dimensions, feedback options, and brake specifications among other available accessories. Interestingly, the number used to represent a tapered shaft, for example, can change based on the numbers present in the middle section of the type number. This is because not all series of FANUC AC servo motors have the same options offered. This means the meaning of the final four characters remain consistent for only small groups of FANUC AC servo motors.

FANUC AC Servo Motor Model Numbers

a 0 4 10 50
aC 1 5 20 60
αL 2 6L 30 70
αM 3 7L 40

In many cases – though not all – the above model will be followed by another number or letter, a slash and another larger number, as in this example:

Model Number Example:
α3/3000

The ‘Alpha’ beginning the model number represents the series. The ‘3’ refers to the motor’s torque in N-m and can often be seen in the double digits. There can sometimes be a letter in this part of the model, usually noting a secondary grouping within the series. The ‘slash’ followed by ‘3000’ denotes the motor’s maximum speed in RPM.

Clearly, this modelling system does not reveal all the pertinent information about a FANUC AC servo motor. For example, the torque and speed can be achieved by various stator sizes, etc. and feedback devices and shaft dimensions are not covered by it.
